Who could benefit from Naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine thrives in preventative medicine as it focuses on the foundations of health (whole foods, body movement, sleep, safety, mental health etc.) as a way of disease prevention through lifestyle changes and daily positive health habits. By focusing on foundations of health many symptoms people suffer from ease up or disappear entirely. Treatment focuses on balancing the body through implementing stronger foundations of health with a focus on health and wellness rather than disease state. Naturopathy is effective in treating most health concerns both acute and chronic because of the focus on the person and how illnesses affect them as an individual.

I treat people not diseases, but listed are some examples of what people come to me seeking care managing either mental or physical health problems:

anxiety, depression, arthritis, joint pain and other musculoskeletal issues, addiction support, smoking cessation help, allergies, asthma, diabetes, heart disease, fatigue, weight problems, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain disorders, digestive disorders (acid reflux, diarrhea, constipation), autoimmune disorders, colds and flu treatment and prevention and so much more.

My approach to treatment is finding the root cause and addressing it using a variety of methods which varies drastically between patients.  Treatment plans may include nutritional recommendations, ideas for body movement, bodywork, mind-body connection exercises, breathe work,  health and lifestyle counseling, herbal medicine recommendations or supplemental nutrition recommendations.

As necessary, to ensure your best care, we will coordinate with other practitioners including other physicians, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other specialists.

I am also trained in many physical medicine modalities including: swedish massage (LMT), manual lymphatic drainage, cupping, craniosacral therapy (CST), spinal manipulation, and hydrotherapy.

If you listen to your body it will tell you exactly what it needs. My philosophy on bodywork is bringing the body into relaxation and allowing it to work out it's own kinks by bringing awareness to the areas needing attention. My form of bodywork includes techniques from Swedish massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation (working with the organs), Spinal manipulation (working on any spinal misalignment), and many more based on patients individual needs. I also make many topical herbal products which can help with pain and inflammation.

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage (info from WebMD.)
